MEET OUR SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGEMENT TEAM

Since joining Sunningdale in 2003 on the Golf Shop side, Josh’s dream has been to evolve into a role that combines his knowledge of the golf side of country clubs with his extensive experience in high end clubhouse dining management.

A graduate of Georgian College’s three year program in Professional Golf & Country Club Management, Josh gained incredible co-op experience at high end clubs right from the start. From being a wine steward at the Sherwood Inn in Muskoka, he moved into supervisory positions in the Clubhouse at Lake Joseph where he was responsible for all operational aspects of the restaurant, half-way house, on-course services, staff scheduling and payroll. (not to mention interacting regularly with ‘stars’, including most of the Maple Leaf hockey team, and Canadian and Hollywood celebrities).

During the winter off-seasons at Sunningdale, Josh managed Snow Valley Ski Resort in Barrie for three seasons, where he was in charge of the entire food & beverage operation serving thousands of people every day.

Now with an understanding of both sides of the industry, Josh is looking forward to blending his personal relationship skills with his golf and food & beverage knowledge to develop increased member contact. A lover of wine and fine dining, he is studying to become a Sommelier and will be gradually expanding and adding new unique selections to the Sunningdale wine list. Josh considers dining a very important aspect of Sunningdale and is focused on making the member experience comfortable, friendly and personal – a ‘home’ where members are proud to bring guests.

The club benefits from JoAnne’s nearly 18 years of banquet and special event experience.

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, JoAnne started catering banquets at the age of 14. While attending the University of Western Ontario and obtaining a degree in psychology and a bachelor of education, she worked at what is now the Hilton Hotel in downtown London. There she worked with banquets, as well as in the restaurant and business class lounges, catering to a variety of clientele. JoAnne was hired at Sunningdale in 2001 and was soon promoted to supervisor in 2002.

JoAnne played an integral part in our move to the new clubhouse ensuring service standards remained high throughout the transition. At the end of 2004, JoAnne was promoted to Catering Manager where she is primarily responsible for all business pertaining to the banquet and special events department including bookings, planning, and staffing.

JoAnne understands that each event, whether it be a wedding for 200, or a business meeting for 10 requires individual attention to detail. Brides are especially appreciative that JoAnne is there every step of the way, from initial visits until the end of their special day, offering her expertise, and keeping plans on-track. The club is often complimented on JoAnne’s professionalism and “how easy and successful” their event was knowing that JoAnne was managing the details.

Courtney is the main contact for special event and wedding bookings. With a great understanding of the “big picture” she brings energy and enthusiasm to any event. She has been a member if the Sunningdale team for nearly 10 years. She also has three years specialized training in the hospitality industry, graduating with honors from Fanshawe College with both a Food and Beverage Management diploma and a Concierges Guest Relation Specialist certificate.

Although Courtney enjoys managing the member dining areas, special events is where her passion lies. She thrives on making every event special and ensures that every detail is looked after. Courtney’s professionalism and welcoming personality makes any client feel well taken care of and in good hands. Brides often tell Courtney how easy planning a wedding really is, especially with Courtney’s guidance, hands on attitude and willingness to tackle any challenge which contributes to the event’s success and client’s satisfaction.
