The “claim to fame” of the par four seventeenth is it’s the only
hole on the course without a bunker.
The fairway is easy to hit on your drive, but your
second shot is deceptive. Youre shooting blind from an elevated
fairway to a green that you cant see because of the slope in
the fairway about fifty yards in front. Although the flag has
been extended so you can see its top, the danger here is thinking
that the green is right at the bottom of the hill - rather than
fifty yards beyond - and falling short.
Another reason for coming up shy of the green is fear
of the river that runs along its rear. Make sure you trust the yardage
and take enough club to get it there.
