Each year Sunningdale Golf & Country Club holds an annual reception to celebrate and give back financial gifts in kind to the various charities that hold their golf tournaments at Sunningdale.

In 2012, nine local charities are holding their tournaments at Sunningdale:

  • Golf Play Day (raising funds for special projects at Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre)
  • Children's Health Foundation
  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Flame of Hope (diabetes)
  • Trudell Medical St. Joe's Urology
  • Fanshawe College Foundation
  • London Home Builders Association Cancer Survivor's Garden
  • The Polar Bear Classic (supporting Thames Valley Children’s Centre)
All charities - except for the previous year's winner - are entered into a unique draw format with equal opportunity to win. For this year, the 9th annual reception, two winning charities were drawn – Golf Play Day and Fanshawe College Foundation, each winning a $5,000 donation to their charity. All charities (even the $5,000 winners) receive a $1,500 contribution towards Golf Shop purchases. Last year local charity golf tournaments at Sunningdale raised nearly $1 million.

Gordon Thompson, President, Sunningdale Golf & Country Club, explained why Sunningdale hosts this annual reception: "This event is really all about thanks - thanks to all of the organizations for what they do for the community. It is with great appreciation that we host this event each year, and to thank you for bringing your event to Sunningdale"

Frank Angeletti (President, Board of Governors, Sunningdale) added: "It's all about giving – it's about giving in terms of this community. From the Board of Governors of Sunningdale we thank these charities for the contributions they make to this community. Our community as a whole is that much stronger for your commitment and your support, and for the contributions that you make".
