Created by glacier action more than 10,000 years ago, the Medway Valley includes heavily forested areas and shrub thickets, meadow marshes, swamp and open wetland. Because of its diversity, the valley has been designated an Environmentally Sensitive Area. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including:
